When you are out to enjoy a dinner, starters are always ordered. They precede the main course and whet your palate for the main meal. But mostly people order a motley of starters and meals. The starters are from a different family say mushrooms, why your main course is vegetable. Here the starters will not action its part as it was not complimenting the main course.
Hence starters should be a prelude to the main course. So do not order it first. Instead order your main course and then accordingly order your starter. There are a variety of starters to choose from and if they interest you then take up learning them more honestly.

Here is a recipe for Black Olive Pate
250 gm black olives chopped
Finely grated lemon rind and 1 lemon juice
1 garlic clove
Fresh breadcrumbs
50 gm soft cheese
Salt and ground pepper
Crisp toast or Cibatta bread
Making Process
Mix together with hand olives, lemon juice and rind, garlic, cheese and breadcrumbs. Add salt and pepper for taste and chill for a few hours. Serve it on the bread available.
Aloo Tikki – snack recipe
4 potatoes (boil, peel and mash)
1 tbsp Cumin seeds
Bread slices
2 tbsp green chillies
Salt for taste and oil for frying
Method
Dip the bread in water then squeeze out excess water. Mix it with mashed potatoes, cumin seeds, chillies and salt. Shape them into hearts and fry them in oil till golden brown. Serve with tomato sauce.
